I have quite often the impression that the articles in ETH Life are written in a clumsy English with a strong influence of German, even Swiss ways of expression and even with mistakes.

Do you rely on automatic translation for a first draft? And do you have a real native English speaking person reviewing the articles before you put them online? If ETH goes more and more English, this should be done with an excellent quality of language!
